Let's vote for Keith Ellison

It’s time for all of us to get behind Keith Ellison and vote for him for Attorney General in the November 6th election.

This is particularly important following this weeks developments with Ellison’s opponent, Doug Wardlow. Wardlow sent out a fund raising mailer accusing Ellison of being a supporter of Muslim terrorists.

"As a Muslim, Ellison has hung around radical Islamic groups and defends known terrorists,” Wardlow wrote.

Wardlow accused Ellison of being “one of the most dangerous men” in America.

“Keith Eliison doesn't share the American values you and I do. He's in bed with in bed with radicals and terrorists, hangs out with racists and anti-Semites, hates President Trump, and wants to use the Attorney General's office to force far-left policies on us.”

Doug Wardlow is willing to go to any length, including anti-Muslim baiting, to get into the Attorney General’s office.

We can’t allow that.

There was a time when I considered not voting for Keith Ellison. When Karen Monahan accused him of domestic abuse I was inclined not to vote for him. But I’ve read the investigation report by lawyer Susan Ellingstad regarding Monahan’s allegations. Although Ellingstad comes from a stauchly DFL law firm her report seems credible. Her primary finding is there is little or no evidence to support Monahan’s allegation. Ellingstad is particularly doubtful about Monahan’s allegations that there is a video of the abusive event. Monahan has refused to produce the video. Here’s what Ellinstad says about that:

"An allegation standing alone is not necessarily sufficient to conclude that conduct occurred, particularly where the accusing party declines to produce supporting evidence that she herself asserts exists," she wrote in the report. "She has thus repeatedly placed the existence of the video front and center to her allegations, but then has refused to disclose it.”

Even after the investigation report was released I was prepared not to vote for Ellison. Most men who abuse women do it repeatedly. I expected that Keith and Kim Ellison’s divorce records would show the Keith abused Kim. I expected te records to show a pattern of abuse by Keith Ellsion.

But the records showed the opposite. They showed that Kim Ellison abused her former husband by hitting him. And, interestingly, there is no record that Keith hit back. I believe a man that doesn’t hit back is not very likely to be the one to strike out first.

There is no apparent pattern of abuse by Keith Ellison.

On the other hand there is a pattern of dishonesty and Islamaphobia on the part of Doug Wardlow.

If you are still wondering whether or not to vote for Keith Ellison — PLEASE VOTE FOR  HIM. Doug Wardlow does not support oour American values.

Thanks Tim! I was once where you were, even more vehemently. Mea Culpa!

Internal polling had Ellison barely ahead a couple of weeks ago. That was undoubtedly because of very soft DFL support. The disclosure earlier this week that he was the abused not the abuser in his marital relationship the post-divorce relationship is a healed and productive one.

Hopefully he picked up 25,000 votes on the spot. Conversely, the media (and Wardlow himself) are doing a very good job of exposing how truly dangerous Wardlow is.

So, YES, a vote for Keith Ellison on 11/6 is the most important part of our ballot on the MN ballot on 11/6. Having done early voting, I've already done my part. Felt good!

Let us all walk in the foot steps of John Lewis

By John King In Selma, Alabama, on Sunday, March 7, 1965, John Lewis, standing in the lead of a long line of marchers, looked down from the crest of The Edmund Pettus Bridge at the line of police armed with clubs, whips and truncheons and said, “I am going to die here.” Lewis intended to lead the marchers from Selma to the capital Montgomery, to demand access to voting for Black people in Alabama. Sheriff Jim Clark lowered his gas mask and led the deputies, some on horseback and some on foot, into the line of marchers. Under swinging clubs and hooves trampling, Lewis was the first to go down. Women and children were not spared. Choking and blinded by tear gas, they were struck by clubs and truncheons wrapped with barbed wire. Lewis, with a fractured skull and a severe concussion, almost did die. The nearby Good Samaritan Hospital did not have enough beds to care for the injured marchers. A nation watched in horror as news footage of that bloody day appeared on T

More Republican dirty tricks

As a Blue Dog Corporate Democrat, 7th District Rep. Collin Peterson’s votes in Congress go against the beliefs and convictions of progressive voters in our district. I’m one of those progressive 7th District voters. Like most average voters I rarely actually encounter my Member of Congress. However, I recall three encounters with Rep. Peterson over the many years I’ve been stuck with him. I met him at Mikey’s Restaurant, on Main Street in Long Prairie, when he was first campaigning for a seat in Congress. We were both young then and he was full of energy and inspired in me a sense of hope for positive change. Besides, I’d met the Republican incumbent. He was an older man who, it seemed, was operating on dead batteries. I was happy to vote for the energetic Peterson. Some years later I was a delegate to the DFL District convention in Bemidji. Peterson opposed a woman’s right to choose abortion. He was being challenged by a woman who supported the right to that choice. I gave my

Step aside Republicans; Minnesotans want electric vehicles

Late last month Senator Paul Gazelka, the Republican leader of the Senate, told the Minnesota Reformer that the Republican controlled Senate would likely fire the acting Commissioner of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, Laura Bishop, if the Agency, at the behest of the Governor, went ahead with the Clean Car Rule. The rule would require automakers to increase the number of electric vehicles they deliver to Minnesota auto dealers. Gazelka told The Reformer that he’d had “a conversation” with Bishop about the rule. Bishop has not been confirmed by the Senate. Gazelka, and his Republican colleagues, claim that electric vehicles are too expensive and that the rule would be a burden to Minnesotans. Gazelka, and the rest of his Party are wrong. They aren’t paying attention to the economics of EV ownership and they are not paying attention to consumer preferences. Way back in September 2019, Consumer Reports reported on a study of Minnesotans they had done in collaboration with the
